MISSION
Illinois Ballet Theatre is a fresh and cutting-edge youth ballet company, performing both original choreographic works and classical repertoire in the Chicagoland area. We seek to enrich our community by developing dancers who are elegant and dynamic on stage and presenting diverse ballet programming that highlights the artistry and elite classical training of our company members.
HISTORY & REPUTATION
Founder and Artistic Director, Sherry Moray followed the sage wisdom of George Balanchine, when he began the work of establishing New York City Ballet: "First a school." The Academy of Dance Arts, the official school of Illinois Ballet Theatre (IBT), opened in Downers Grove, Illinois, in 1998, and moved to a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Warrenville, Illinois, in 2020. IBT was instituted and received 501c3 status in 2001.
